Lesson 16: Shopping Habits and Culture (1 hour)

Objectives:
• Use interrogatives to ask about prices and payment methods.
• Learn about French shopping habits.

1. Grammar: How much and how (15 minutes)

• Learn interrogatives (Page 94, “Learn” table) – 5 minutes:
  • Study how to use “how much” and “how” in questions.
• Complete the sentences (Page 94, Activity 6) – 10 minutes:
  • Fill in the blanks with the correct interrogative.

2. Reading Comprehension (15 minutes)

• Cultural quiz on shopping in France (Page 97) – 8 minutes:
  • Read the text and answer true or false.
• Comic strip (Pages 98-99) – 7 minutes:
  • Read the story to see examples of market and home conversations.

3. Speaking and Writing (20 minutes)

• Complete a dialogue (Page 96, Activity 2) – 10 minutes:
  • Imagine a conversation between a customer and a seller, including prices and items.
• Create an online shopping list (Page 96, project) – 10 minutes:
  • Make a list within a budget and describe your choices.

4. Review and Conclusion (10 minutes)

• Review price sounds and interrogatives (Pages 89 and 94) – 5 minutes.
• Finish with a cultural discussion on shopping differences – 5 minutes.
