Lesson 10: Discovering and Discussing Leisure Activities
Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- Develop reading comprehension skills.
- Use definite articles (le, la, l’, les) correctly with leisure activities and sports.
- Formulate and understand negative sentences in French.
Lesson Breakdown
- Reading Comprehension (20 minutes)
- Understanding Profiles (Page 56, Activity 2):
- Read about Laura and Théo and complete the sentences about them.
- Matching Activity (Page 58, Activity 2):
- Associate different leisure activities with the appropriate locations.
- Grammar: Definite Articles (15 minutes)
- Learning Definite Articles (Page 62, “Apprenez” table):
- Study the use of le, la, l’, les with leisure activities.
- Practice Exercise (Page 62, Activity 9):
- Complete sentences by inserting the correct definite article.
- Negation (15 minutes)
- Learning the Negative Form (Page 60, “Apprenez” table):
- Study how to form negations in French (ne… pas).
- Practice Exercise (Page 61, Activity 5):
- Answer questions using the negative form.
- Oral and Written Production (10 minutes)
- Preference Game (Individual Activity):
- Imagine a conversation with a friend:
- Write five questions about their preferences and answer them yourself.
- Example: « Aimes-tu le cinéma ? Oui, j’adore le cinéma. »
