Lesson 1: Introduction to Greetings and the French Alphabet
Lesson Objectives:
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
- Recognize and use basic French greetings.
- Differentiate between formal and informal greetings.
- Learn and pronounce the French alphabet.
- Engage in simple greeting exchanges through practice activities.
Duration: 1 hour
- Introduction (20 minutes)
- Read and listen to the “Greetings” section (pages 20–21).
- Study the “formal vs. informal” table (page 21).
- Complete the matching exercise of expressions with images (page 16, exercise 1).
- Formal and Informal Greetings (20 minutes)
- Review the table on page 18 and read the corresponding content.
- Complete the matching exercise (page 19, exercise 4) using the dialogues to distinguish between “tu” and “vous.”
- Complete exercise 5 (page 19): write the words in the correct order.
- Review and Oral Practice (20 minutes)
- Practice the greetings aloud using the sentences provided in the “Communication Guide” (page 17).
- Read the section on the French alphabet (page 8).
- Complete exercise 2 (page 8): recognize the letters heard.
